1. What is the platform that ACAA Elementary is utilizing to provide instruction during the school closure?

ACAA is utilizing both the virtual platform and packet work. The virtual platform includes online systems such as Google Classroom, SeeSaw, Zearn, Quill, or others modalities. As for packet work, they are available for pick up on a weekly basis. In addition, other arrangements could be made at the teacher’s discretion.

2. Where and when can I pick up the work packet(s)?

The new weekly work packets are available for pick-up every Friday, starting on March 30. The bins will be located outside the front office. The staggered pick-up times are below. They are staggered to avoid group gathering and to practice the concept of social distancing. However, the bins will be placed outside on Friday between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

Kindergarten: 9:00-9:45
1st Grade: 9:45-10:30
2nd Grade: 10:30-11:15
3rd Grade: 11:15-12:00
4th Grade: 12:00-12:45
5th Grade: 12:45:-1:30

3. Can I pick up the work packets if I missed my pick-up times on Friday?

Yes. Again, the staggered times is for social distancing. The bins will be placed outside between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. The bins will also be outside of the front office the following days of the following week.

4. Can I come on campus to pick up my child’s materials from school?

No. The campus is closed due to the Governor’s mandated school closures and Executive Order of Stay Home, Stay Healthy, Stay Connected. If there is any items that are essential to daily functioning, please call the front office to arrange a pick-up at (623) 878-0986. Essential items includes medication, glasses, personal dietary food, and/or other items. All non-employee campus visits must be pre-arranged and approved by administration.

5. Can I enroll my child for next year?

Yes. Please call the front office at (623) 878-0986 for enrollment information and packet to be sent to you via electronically or mail.


6. Is the front office open?

The front office is open for internal school operations only; Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM – 4:00 during the school closure. Public visits are not permitted during this time.

7. Can my child borrow a laptop from ACAA Elementary during the school closure?

Unfortunately, we are unable to lend laptops to families. We offer work packets if your child is unable to access technology from home.

8. Will there be a kindergarten graduation or a 5th Grade Promotion ceremony this school year?

Unfortunately, due to the Governor’s mandated school closures and Executive Order of Stay Home, Stay Healthy, Stay Connected, all events and gatherings are not permitted at this time.

9. Will my child receive a grade for the 4th Quarter of this academic year?

Yes. Your child will receive a grade for his/her learning for the 4th Quarter of this academic year. However, the focus at this time should be on staying engaged in the learning. We want to encourage families and students to work together this school closure to continue learning. We understand the inequities that exist out there, therefore, we want the learning at this time to enhance their grades, not to penalize them. We will have a more definitive framework and statement in the weeks to come regarding grades for the 4th Quarter.

10. If we previously purchased a yearbook, will my child receive a yearbook?

Our current partnership with Lifetouch is being suspended. The company has informed us that they are currently not operating due COVID-19. Therefore, there will not be a yearbook this year. If you pre-ordered, you will receive a refund.

11. Is ACAA offering any differentiated instruction for students who qualified for special services?

Yes. Students who qualify for special services by means of an IEP will be receiving instruction. Our special education coordinator will be conducting virtual classrooms to meet the students’ learning needs. As of now, families have been contacted to determine which method they prefer – virtual learning or work packet.

12. Where can I pick up a free meal during the school closure?

Please refer to the provided link to find a school location near you that is offering FREE grab and go meals during the closure. All children 18 years old and younger are eligible, regardless of enrollment.
