ACAA's Apex Fun Run Helps Students Raise Funds for Classroom Technology

Posted On: 2016-11-17 02:56 PM

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

Thank you for your support of ACAA Elementary and the investments you make in your children's lives. We are so excited to introduce you to this semester's major fundraiser, the Apex Fun Run!

We first shared our 1st annual Apex Fun Run event in our November 2016 newsletter. The Apex program teaches leadership and fitness to our students who are raising pledges for the Fun Run on Wednesday, November 30, 2016. The Apex Fun Run will last for 2 weeks and will kick off with a Pep Rally on Monday, November 14, 2016 at 10 am.

The Apex Fun Run is for every student regardless of financial giving. All students will receive Apex bands, race-day lap counters, and team awards. We invite all parents to come to the Apex Fun Run and share in this great event! The times for the Apex Fun Run on November 30, 2016 are as follows:

  • Kindergarten/First Grade Fun Run 1: 8:30 am - 9:15 am
  • 4th/5th Grade Fun Run 2: 9:30 am - 10:15 am
  • 2nd/3rd Grade Fun Run 3: 10:30 am - 11:15 am

This year's character theme is Apex Legends, where students will follow Tikes, Seeds, Specs, Jazz, and Wheels through the pages of their legendary adventure to discover JJ Cortez's hidden treasure. Along the way these five friends discover what it truly means to be a Legendary leader:

  • Learn
  • Engage
  • Give
  • Empower
  • Never Quit
  • Do

Students are raising pledges for the laps they run (between 26 and 36, 36-lap max). Each lap is 1/16th of a mile. For instance, $1 per lap means $30 dollars total pledged if the student runs 30 laps. The laps will be completed on the school campus field.

Here's the important part! The majority of the funds raised this year will go to our school to pay for classroom technology.

Please help us reach our goal by talking to your family and friends about pledging for your children. A great way to do this is to use the "Share Wizard" found on your students pledge page. It's super easy. The Share Wizard is an awesome tool that allows you to send texts, emails and share posts on Facebook and Twitter to help your child get sponsors for the fun run.

You can help our school be successful in the following 3 ways:

  • Help connect your child to potential sponsors (family/friends) to acquire pledges.
  • Ask your child about the "Legend" character lessons, and download the "Apex Fun Run" App!
  • Help volunteer for the race! We need a few parents to help cheer on students and mark laps. If you would like to volunteer for your child's race, please contact Coach Goldfaden at sgoldfaden@edkey.org

If you need your child's access code to login at www.apexfunrun.com, please just reply. We hope to see you at the Fun Run!

Thanks,
