Drama

Our drama curriculum is aimed at creating an appreciation for the theatre and acting as an art form and a life skill. Students in basic and advanced classes will: develop an understanding for theatre as an ensemble; understand the body as an actor’s tool and the importance of proper warm-up technique; develop skills in concentration, sense awareness, imitation, imagination & characterization; understand the importance of staging and movement; create a physical and vocal life of a character; create the character’s history based on textual, historical and psychological analysis; understand basic theatre terminology and apply it to classwork; understand the functions of theatre as a whole (ie. acting, playwriting, directing, scenery, properties, lighting, sound, costumes and makeup); develop an understanding of basic theatre history; enthusiastically participate in improvisational as well as scripted performances, theatre games & exercises; critique self performances and coach classmates in performances.
